Overview
Discover Neterion's Xframe® V-NIC family, with Hyperframe technology: the only line of 10 GbE adapters designed for I/O virtualization
Xframe® V-NIC addresses the need of high-end servers and storage systems and high-performance cluster computing users. Leveraging 30 years of Ethernet standard, Xframe V-NIC integrates seamlessly with existing IT architectures, minimizing the total cost of ownership, with an evolutionary not a revolutionary approach.
The Xframe V-NIC product family offers a unique multi-channel device model. A total of eight independent, hardware-based transmit and receive paths are available and each path may be prioritized for true Quality-of-Service support. By combining this novel architecture with the power of Extended Message Signaled Interrupts (MSI-X), Neterion has established a leading-edge framework for I/O virtualization (IOV). This set of unique, industry-leading IOV features is what constitutes Neterion's Hyperframe technology.
Other vendors will claim thousands (or better, tens of thousands) of virtual paths. But beware that these software-only implementations are very limited in nature. Neterion is the only manufacturer to support these IOV features in hardware, as an integral part of the Xframe V-NIC design philosophy that implements the Hyperframe architecture.
For example, Neterion's Xframe V-NIC is unique in its ability to support emerging "passthru" models currently being implemented by major virtualization OS vendors (like VMware, Microsoft, Xen, etc.). "Passthru" models provide much better support for high-speed I/O virtualization, but require hardware to pick up the features that are being removed from the OS. With the Xframe V-NIC, inter-channel communication is done inside the ASIC, providing for superior performance and true hardware separation and protection between channels.
The entire Xframe V-NIC family includes full IPv4 and IPv6 support, and comprehensive stateless offloads that preserve the integrity of current TCP/IP implementations without "breaking the I/O stack." Xframe V-NIC drivers are available for all major Operating Systems, including Microsoft Windows, Linux, Hewlett-Packard's HP-UX, IBM's AIX, Sun's Solaris and SGI's Irix.
- X3100: 3rd generation 10 Gigabit Ethernet controller provides easy access to new features, enabling I/O Virtualization without compromise and hardware offloads that significantly ease the demands on server CPU and memory resources.
- Xframe E: 10 Gigabit Ethernet PCI-express server & storage adapter - the industry's first 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapter designed for the new generation PCI-express bus
- Xframe II Sun Fire: the version of our industry-leading Xframe II V-NIC optimized for Sun Fire server environments
- Xframe II: 10 Gigabit Ethernet PCI-X 2.0 server & storage adapter - the industry's fastest Ethernet adapter, taking advantage of the new Double Data Rate bus (DDR), to deliver the full line rate potential of 10 gigabit per second
- Xframe: 10 Gigabit Ethernet PCI-X 1.0 server & storage adapter
