Neterion Partners Program Sets the Stage for Enterprise-Ready 10 Gigabit Ethernet IP Storage Platforms
Interoperability and High Performance of 10 GbE Enable Superior IP-Based Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery Solutions
San Diego, CA April 3, 2006 Neterion, Inc., the industry leader in the 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapter market for server and storage environments, is using the spring Storage Networking World Conference, to promote the industry-wide ecosystem readiness for the adoption of 10 GbE in a variety of high performance, scalable, and easier-to-manage storage networking applications.
Neterion continues to grow their technology partnerships with key IP storage vendors such as Ciprico, Cutting Edge, FalconStor, Intransa, iStor Networks, Inc., LeftHand Networks, PolyServe and SBE. Storage networking based on 10 GbE offers a compelling, higher performance and much simpler solution for geographically dispersed storage across global enterprise, campus, MAN or WAN environments as compared to other storage networking technologies. In addition to video/digital imaging/broadcast, VoIP, and HPC, storage vendors see 10 GbE as an important enabler for faster business continuity/disaster recovery tools like backup, snapshots and recovery.
"We've been waiting for the right critical mass in partners along with strong end user interest before launching this major promotion of 10 GbE as an enterprise IP-storage enabler," noted Tracy Crowe, Neterion's Director of Market Development, Channels and Alliances. "IT managers at a wide range of enterprises are expressing strong interest in the performance and ease-of-deployment benefits of using 10 GbE for more of their storage applications."
While IP-storage offers a number of inherent advantages, adding 10 GbE as part of the solution addresses many of the previous criticisms of the technology and introduces a wealth of additional benefits.
IT personnel are readily familiar with Ethernet and IP networking, 10 GbE can be deployed in stages allowing for seamless upgrades and it can help maximize existing investments in storage and networking infrastructure.
"With 10 GbE, performance and scalability are no longer issues, plus IT managers can deploy in stages; focusing first on key bottlenecks to the storage servers and then out to other points on the network. It does not require a forklift to deploy," added Crowe.
The Neterion Technology Partners Program for 10 GbE gives storage partners access to Neterion's technology, network of other infrastructure partners and years of experience in high speed networking. It allows storage vendors and System Integrators to begin testing and offering 10 GbE IP-based storage solutions to their customers.
Further information on using 10 GbE for iSCSI SAN solutions can be found on the Neterion website (www.neterion.com) under the "Solutions" section.
PARTNER QUOTES:
Ciprico (www.ciprico.com)
"The Xframe family of 10GbE adapters exhibit the speed, scalability and low latency features needed for fast, reliable access to shared content for high-definition video and film post production environments," noted Hamish MacMillan, Director of Business Development at Ciprico. "These adapters are an essential component for allowing video professionals to accelerate their digital media workflow using Ethernet technology."
Cutting Edge (www.cuttedge.com)
"We are enthusiastic about partnering with Neterion. By incorporating their 10GbE connectivity into our iSCSI product line, we can now offer hybrid IP storage solutions that deliver maximum data transfer speeds," said Cutting Edge CEO, Michael Ehman. "Cutting Edge is pleased to be selected as one of Neterion's vendors alongside industry leaders such as Hewlett-Packard and IBM."
FalconStor (www.falconstor.com)
"Neterion's Xframe 10 GbE adapters deliver the highest performance option for networked storage environments," said Don Mead, vice president of marketing for FalconStor. "For example, at 10 Gigabit speeds, we can seamlessly integrate lightning fast backup and immediate recovery capabilities to meet the critical storage area networking requirements of our customers."
Intransa (www.intransa.com)
"2006 signifies the advancement of IP SANs and the coming of age for 10 GbE. Never before have customers had the opportunity to significantly increase performance while reducing costs, all on a common IP infrastructure that is already in place," said Doug Rainbolt, VP of Marketing at Intransa. "We're pleased that Intransa, with partners such as Neterion, is at such an advanced stage and can deliver full IP throughout and can enable 10 GbE not only on the front end but the back end of the SAN as well, providing even greater performance and application utilization for customers."
iStor Networks, Inc. (www.istor.com)
"iStor Networks, Inc. is committed to providing what our worldwide OEM's, Channel Partners and Resellers need to make them successful and the GigaStorATX family of highly integrated iSCSI storage controllers provides the capability to accomplish this goal," said Simon Huang, President and CEO of iStor Networks, Inc. "iStor is providing a brand new generation of iSCSI Controller, the 10GbE GigaStorATX storage subsystem controller. Others have the technology, but iStor Networks in partnership with Neterion can offer 10GbE product solution from end to end available now."
LeftHand Networks (www.lefthandnetworks.com)
"As 10 Gigabit switch vendors move to RJ45 Ethernet cabling later this year, customers will be able to deploy 10 Gigabit iSCSI SANs into their existing IT infrastructure seamlessly," stated John Spiers, CTO, LeftHand Networks.
"When combined with industry-leading SAN/iQ software from LeftHand, customers realize the performance, features and benefits of high-end fibre channel SANs at a much lower cost of ownership, all running on the global infrastructure of Ethernet. We're pleased to be working with Neterion to make 10 Gigabit a reality."
PolyServe (www.polyserve.com)
"10 GbE is a key technology to creating storage networks that can scale to the next level of capacity and performance demanded by so many IT managers as they grow beyond DAS and NAS for storage," said Carter K. George, general manager of Storage Solutions at PolyServe. "PolyServe's Utility solutions continue to receive great recognition for their ability to scale in computing environments such as high performance file serving and database consolidation, and we see Neterion as an important partner in delivering technology for industry leading storage solutions."
SBE (www.sbei.com)
"SBE, a key player in the IP storage arena with its enterprise-level iSCSI software products, is pleased to team with Neterion to deliver best-in-class iSCSI over 10 Gigabit Ethernet solutions," commented Nelson Abal, Vice President of Sales at SBE. "With the immediate availability of 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapters and switches, iSCSI SANs can more than double the performance levels of alternative solutions, while mass adoption continues to drive costs down," concluded Abal.
