Neterion to Accelerate 10 Gigabit Ethernet Adoption By Eliminating Data Center Networking Bottlenecks

Company Emerges from Stealth Mode as One of Only Ten Startups to Be Featured at Data Center Futures Conference

CHICAGO, Il. — June 4, 2003 — Neterion Inc. (formerly S2io Inc.), a Silicon Valley based company, is developing next generation 10 Gigabit Ethernet networking products for high performance server and networked storage environments. The company is using this week's Data Center Futures Conference to announce its technology, market strategy and product roadmap to leading analysts and senior IT managers.

"Neterion is focused on delivering 10 Gigabit Ethernet-based solutions that dramatically improve server performance and storage connectivity in data center and high performance computing environments," said Dave Zabrowski, President and CEO of Neterion. "We have teamed with industry leading server and storage OEMs to create a product roadmap that uses practical innovation to solve real world problems."

Escalating information demands in today's enterprise architectures have created a huge I/O bottleneck causing inefficient CPU utilization and scalability problems. The result is unnecessary IT capital equipment expenditures, rising management and maintenance costs and end-user frustration over delays in accessing data.

"The ability to dramatically improve data center performance through the implementation and enhancement of 10 GbE provides an immediate advantage to enterprise data centers," stated Vish Mulchand, Worldwide Product Line Manager for Hewlett Packard's Business Critical Server Group.

Neterion's first product is currently being evaluated by the leading server and storage OEMs and will be in general release in the third quarter of this year. This first product represents the initial phase of a product roadmap that is focused on dramatically improving performance, reliability and availability of networked server and storage environments in the data center. "As 10GbE continues to make inroads in the data center, Neterion's evolutionary strategy is a sound one, " stated Jag Baloria, Senior Analyst with The Linley Group, "and they appear to understand what it takes to be a leader in the market."
