Neterion's Industry Leading I/O Virtualization Adapter Achieves IBM ServerProven Status

10 Gigabit Ethernet Boosts Value Proposition of Server Virtualization for End Users and Business Partners

Cupertino, CA — July 20, 2009 — Neterion, Inc., the industry pioneer of I/O Virtualization (IOV) in 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10 GbE), today announced that its third generation I/O Virtualized 10 GbE adapter, the Neterion X3100 series, has been qualified under the prestigious IBM ServerProven® program.

In addition to compatibility and interoperability testing, the IBM ServerProven® program requires that vendors maintain a close relationship with IBM, including engineering level collaboration, commitment to expedite problems and a cooperative customer support agreement. This program is designed to allow customers to choose non-IBM options that have been tested with IBM servers, providing peace of mind by deploying compatibility tested solutions.

Neterion's X3110 series adapter was conferred the ServerProven status on a broad line of IBM System x servers, among the 34xx, 35xx, 36xx, 37xx, 38xx and 39xx series, running on the latest editions of virtualized environments such as VMware vSphere 4, and industry standard operating systems such as Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and 2008 and Red Hat and SuSE Linux.

IBM's System x enterprise servers feature leading-edge technologies, offering the highest level of performance and an exceptional reliability: eX4 chipset, high-speed I/O support, large memory expansion and the latest quad- and six-core processors. System x are also the only x86 servers in the industry to include a centralized virtualization management console at no additional charge, making virtualization simple and affordable. Neterion was invited by IBM to participate in the ServerProven program based on its enterprise-class reliability features and a unique set of I/O virtualization technologies, such as Hypervisor Offload (Hy-O)™, allowing greater Virtual Machine (VM) density per platform, hardware-based I/O Quality of Service (IOQoS)™ and Neterion's exclusive Virtual Link Technology (VLT)™ , which presents the adapter to the system as several fully independent controllers.

"IBM's enterprise servers are designed for virtualization from the ground-up," stated James Northington, Vice-President of Portfolio Management for IBM System x Server Division. "The combination of Neterion's best-in-class I/O Virtualization technology and IBM's superior server architecture provides an unmatched value proposition for end-users in virtualized environments."

"Neterion is proud to be part of IBM's ServerProven program," said Todd Oseth, President and CEO of Neterion. "The industry-leading 10 Gigabit Ethernet virtualization technology is now available on industry-leading servers. It's a win-win for all: customers gain access to low-cost, highly scalable virtualized servers, and resellers can service this exciting market opportunity with the lowest price-per-VM ratio ever achieved in our industry."

Neterion's partner program, named Xforce, is a channel framework for value-added resellers and system integrators. It features a motivating compensation package and a web portal, named Xforce Central, to facilitate collaboration between Neterion and its partners. Neterion encourages IBM System x resellers that have not yet become Xforce partners to sign up to the program, by logging on to: http://www.neterion.com/partners/channel/reseller.html.

To celebrate the award of the IBM ServerProven label, Neterion will soon launch a special incentive program for its partner community. More details will be announced later.
