Neterion Technologist Exposes the Secrets to Powering the Cloud and Scaling Virtual Machines
A Deep Dive into I/O Virtualization: Uncovering & Resolving the Bottlenecks Neterion to Present at HP Technology Forum and Expo 2009, June 15-18, 2009, Las Vegas, Nevada
Cupertino, CA Neterion, Inc. technologist Andrew LaCroix joins a prestigious speaker roster next week (June 15-18, 2009) at HP Technology Forum and Expo 2009, to be hosted at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada (http://www.hptechnologyforum.com/2009_exhibitors.html). LaCroix's presentation focuses on the "glass ceiling" or system level constraints that impact performance in virtualized environments as customers deploy applications in the cloud. If the constraints of Cloud Computing are not addressed; the cost, manageability and infrastructure scalability benefits of clouds and virtualization may not be achieved. "So many assumptions are being made with respect to virtualization and the deployment of the cloud that it's time to take a hard look at what needs to be overcome to truly reap the rewards in this new and exciting paradigm," said Andrew LaCroix, Neterion's Director of System Engineering. "The industry's push toward Single Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV) will help drive the true potential of these new deployment architectures. However, we need to bring this capability into customer's existing environments today to accelerate this game changer."

Examining the Hidden Bottlenecks of Server Virtualization-A Look at I/O Virtualization |
| HP Technology Forum Track: |
Advanced, Session 4540 |
| Summary: |
When I/O intensive applications are deployed in a virtualized environment a glass ceiling emerges where application performance ceases to scale as processors become burdened with managing data flow in and out of the server. Mr. LaCroix will explore virtualization's scalability bottlenecks and how next-generation, virtualization-aware 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10 GbE) technologies are resolving this problem. |

About Andrew LaCroix
Andrew LaCroix is an industry luminary in the emerging area of I/O Virtualization (IOV) and an expert in server and storage I/O. Over the past decade he has specialized in the architecture and implementation of high-performance 10 GbE networks and the issues that need to be solved to feed such networks from server and storage network controller cards. LaCroix has collaborated closely with system architects from the world's leading server and storage manufacturers, including HP (NYSE:HPQ), IBM (NYSE: IBM), EMC (NYSE: EMC), Hitachi (NYSE:HIT), and Fujitsu (Tokyo: FJTSY).
LaCroix is an early employee of Neterion and heads systems engineering. Neterion is the world leader in 10 GbE network adapters. Prior to Neterion, he held design and architecture positions at Nortel Networks (Toronto:NT.TO) and Broadcom (Nasdaq: BRCM). He holds a degree in Engineering Science from the University of Toronto, Canada.
About Neterion
Neterion is the leader in I/O Virtualization for 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapters that provide high speed solutions for customers' server and storage systems. Xframe® and X3100 Series are the industry's highest performing line of 10 GbE adapters, allowing IT managers to virtualize many more applications per physical server - including the most I/O-intensive ones - drastically decreasing costs when deploying virtualized servers. The company was founded in 2001 and is headquartered in Cupertino, California with an additional office in Ottawa, Canada. More information on Neterion, Inc. can be found at http://www.neterion.com.
